About me

Hi there.

I am 25 year old girl from a small city south of Poland (so English isn't my primary language). I am definitely not normal – I suspect I have Asperger’s Syndrome or a few combined impairments (OCPD, sensory issues,  anxiety issues, NLD, hyperfocus... which actually make the AS criteria when you combine them  :D).

Getting an official diagnosis is not easy in my country, especially when you are an adult already. And when I was a child noone had a clue about AS - doctors were calling me “gifted but socially impaired”. I am currently looking for a possibility of getting a diagnosis but I don’t care much. I am quite high-functional and my IQ of 128 makes me a fast learner so I learned how to copy by myself, without any professional help.  At the moment of my life a diagnosis would be nice just to take part in the “Hire an Ace” or similar job finding program that help AS people find a job. But I am not in a hurry.

Currently I am attending a weekend school to become an IT specialist. Computers are not my special interest but I understand everything about computers instinctively so it sounds like a good insurance for the future. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting but because of constant changes in the accounting laws I don’t feel like working in this field. When I decided to get my degree there I was thinking accounting job is just sitting in front of a computer and playing with numbers day after day. So naive...

Anyway. Since getting know about the Asperger’s Syndrome I started to pay more attention to my daily life and realized how interesting it is: dealing with all the issues using self-made copy mechanisms. For most of my life I wasn’t aware how serious my impairment is and I didn’t really pay attention to small things like how often I focus on one thing forgetting about everything else,  how often I get anxiety thoughts, how the sensory issues come in place and finally - how weird I act in socials situations. I have always known I am different but didn’t have a clue how big the difference is. I was always thinking everyone experiences are the same and they just deal with it better.  Apparently, it is not the case.
